Tuition Aid
TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM 2010-2011 Rev. Jan 2010
Purpose
The goal for West Valley Christian School's tuition assistance program is to help as many students as possible have a Christian education. Therefore, this program has been established for families with limited resources who meet the admissions and aid requirements.
Process (All requested information must be submitted to the school business office.)
Tuition aid must be requested every school year. It is not automatically continued.
Contact the Business Office 818.884.4710 (x237) by phone or in writing to request aid.
A new student must pay the application fee, complete the enrollment process, and be accepted as a student to WVCS.
A returning student must pay the enrollment fee and satisfy the requirements for re-enrollment.
The family must provide a copy of the tax return for the last full calendar year, e.g., the 2009 tax return for the 2010-2011 school year.
In the case of a blended family, all parents/families must provide a copy of their tax return(s).
At this point, the family will meet with the administrator or a member of the school board to discuss the circumstances that merit aid consideration. All information, written or verbal, is held in the strictest confidence.
After consideration of the applicant's information and individual circumstances, a decision on tuition aid will be made. The family will be informed of the decision.
A family may appeal the decision by disclosing additional information on an appeal form. The family's application for aid will be reevaluated based on the new information, and a revised aid recommendation will be provided if indicated.
At any time during the school year, if a family's financial situation changes to such an extent that they no longer need all or part of the tuition aid they are receiving, the family must notify the business office.
Guidelines
All necessary information must be submitted before April 15. Requests that do not meet this deadline may not receive consideration if the aid budget has been expended.
All families are eligible to apply for aid, under the guidelines herein, with preference given to returning families.
Active membership in a Christ-centered church is not required, but preference is given to WVCC member families first and then other church member families.
Families that apply for aid are automatically placed on the 12-month payment plan because it has the lowest payment amount each month of any plan. Payments begin June 1 and continue to May 1.
If the aid decision comes after the payment plan begins, the aid will be pro-rated over the remaining months.Tuition aid is not awarded retroactively.
Aid is limited to a maximum of 50% of the scheduled tuition cost. The normal multiple student discount rates would apply in figuring a student's tuition. All other fees incurred as a result of the student's enrollment at WVCS are the responsibility of the family.
No more than 10% of the student body of WVCS will be awarded tuition aid.
Each student receiving tuition aid must maintain a GPA of 2.0 in core subjects. Students on academic or behavioral probation are not eligible for tuition aid.
At the discretion of administration, certain grade levels may be excluded in a given year.
Scrip usage by all families is a no-cost benefit to them and to WVCS. All families are required to use at least $200 in scrip each month (equivalent to $2,000 per year), with the intention of increasing scrip usage as much as possible on an ongoing basis.
WVCS reserves the right to refuse admission and/or tuition aid to anyone.
