GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  1. Academics
  2. Students must have a "C" average in core subjects the semester prior to enrollment at WVCS. The student must pass the admissions test by scoring 50% or better in three out of the four areas tested, using the Test of Academic Performance (TAP) for 2nd-5th grade or Basis Achievement Skills Individual Screen (BASIS) for 1st grade. A developmental readiness test is administered to students entering TK and Kindergarten.

  3. Citizenship
  4. Students are expected to have maintained satisfactory marks in citizenship and work habits throughout their education prior to applying to WVCS.

  5. Kindergarten
  6. The recommended age for our Kindergarten program is five by September 1st. However, children whose birthdays fall between September 1st and December 1st may be accepted in Kindergarten if they meet the following requirements: 1. Recommended by preschool teacher (a teacher recommendation form will be in the Kindergarten Registration Packet). 2. Student must have demonstrated developmental readiness as per the Gesell Developmental Screening (developmental age range of 5.0 in September of the year they begin kindergarten).

  7. Immunization/Documentation
  8. Kindergarten: Students entering kindergarten must be 5 by September 1st. TK/Kindergarten: Verification of Hepatitis B series, chicken pox, and two doses of MMR vaccines. TK/K: Photocopy of certified birth certificate. TK/Kindergarten: Report of Health Examination for School Entry Form. TK- 8th grade: Students from out of state must get a TB test and chicken pox vaccination; 1st-8th grade: Standardized test results and report cards. 1st-8th grade: California Immunization Form or immunization record signed by a physician. 6th-8th grade: Completed reference forms that are included in the initial registration packet. 7th grade: Hepatitis B series and two doses of MMR immunization verification. 7th: Tdap immunization is required before entering the 7th grade.

  9. Christian Values
  10. We welcome families of all faiths and backgrounds at WVCS, however we ask that parents agree to support the Christian values taught here, as we believe they help students understand how they can have personal relationships with God, through Jesus Christ.
